Chris Difford (born Christopher Henry Difford, 4 November 1954, Greenwich, London[1]) is a singer, songwriter and record producer. He has written lyrics for almost 30 years, most notably in partnership with Glenn Tilbrook. The two were primary members in Squeeze and Difford & Tilbrook. Some of their best-known songs are "Tempted", "Pulling Mussels (From the Shell)", "Black Coffee in Bed", "Cool for Cats", "Up the Junction" and "Annie Get Your Gun". Difford has also written lyrics for music by Jools Holland, Elton John, Wet Wet Wet, Marti Pellow and others. In 2004, Lisa Stansfield released the Trevor Horn produced single, "If I Hadn't Got You", co-written by Difford with Chris Braide, which became a hit in Europe. In addition to his work with Squeeze, he has released three solo albums: I Didn't Get Where I Am, 2003 South East Side Story, 2007 [2], a bonus disk included with the DVD recording of Squeeze's greatest hits, included Difford singing acoustic versions of his favourite Squeeze tracks[3] The Last Temptation of Chris, 2008[4] In 2008 he also wrote the lyrics to 'Let's Not Fight this Christmas', a song performed by Difford and The One Show team, in a bid to get a Christmas Number 1. The song hasn't made it into the top 100 UK Singles Chart as yet. In January 2010 Difford announced from the stage of the 'Half Moon', Putney, that he would be renting a villa in Italy this coming summer with Glenn Tilbrook - to write songs together for the first time in over ten years. Chris got in touch with Gary through a friend of Norman Cook (a.k.a. Fatboy Slim). Chris was on a solo tour, and also a Squeeze tour. and liked Gary's designs. After meeting with Gary, Chris settled on a Vibrovox to play live and a Memphis for his studio.

About Hutchins Guitars

HUTCHINS GUITARS is an independently owned boutique guitar company based in Sussex UK.
Gary Hutchins
personally plans every single step of production, nearly all by hand.  Every guitar  design is a limited edition of each model and colour. "I make great looking guitars. In fact, I try to make pieces of art that you can play".

Gary Hutchins is an avid lover of the guitar as a piece of art - an object of beauty as well as a fantastic instrument. He has collected guitars for many years and loves what they represent - the thought behind their design, how they sound and what they do. Gary has been involved in the music industry for most of his life, starting off with his own label, Safe Records, before moving into band management and music production. "I have had the great pleasure of working with incredibly talented people all my life".

Gary found himself at a crossroads in his life when he found out that his father had cancer.
His father, Derek Hutchins, had been a master boat builder all his life, creating and repairing many boats and barges without receiving credit or recognition for his work. One day the two men were talking about life; what we do while we are here and what we leave behind us as a legacy. Gary's father felt as though he had not left a legacy that Gary and his three children (Amy-Leigh, Edward and Francesca) could honour after he was gone.

Gary's father passed away in 2005. One day after he passed Gary was strumming a guitar and reflecting on the long talks they'd had prior to his death. Lost in thought as he played, Gary noticed the guitar brand name on the headstock. In a defining moment he 'saw it' -his father's legacy; Derek Hutchins had left Gary his name.

Gary then decided to turn his passion into his work and Hutchins Guitars was born. Over the next few months Gary studied guitar building, travelling to the Musik Messe fair in Germany to meet people and gain ideas.  His travels, research and countless conversations across the industry, taught him exactly what kind of guitars were available - and more importantly, which guitars were not. Along the way Gary had the great fortune of encountering two guitar-building gurus, Allan Entwistle and Trevour Wilkinson, both of whom he his proud now to call friends. After a year of research, study, and travel Gary put together his first small range of guitars and things grew from there. Gary Hutchins designs guitars that look different, look interesting, look GREAT - and then he makes them play!

"Thank you for taking the time to visit my website. I hope you find my guitars of interest and I hope that one day soon...you will own one yourself!"
